Lecture plaisante du compte-rendu, merci !!

MacDeath * 16 Nov 2019 10:29:20

Nice report. Maybe some englitch version as well ?

Hicks * 16 Nov 2019 18:31:35

If anyone really thinks that Alchimie is a mandatory CPC event, then you (I am talking to no one in particular, but rather to everyone who uses french language (even occasionally) on this site or any CPC related site on .net, .com or .org domains) should stop using french for reporting/discussing/whatevering about it. Otherwise, you are effectively (and frivolously) exlcuding all non-french people from taking part. I hate to be nagging, but I can't express how annoying it is to have to find french-only texts related to CPC stuff time and again. Being forced to use google translate or so every time to learn what's going on is a nuisance and makes me feel as if you frenchies don't care. Which is especially fretful as most of you write really good english. And I think some of the admins here promised that memoryfull be a english-only community.

Hey BSC! Nice to know that you are reading everything here.

I think this topic was to speak about "how french peoples can go to Alchimie and personal feedbacks between them after" ... More authentic to express with the native language. Not sure that was realy interresting to read compared to the dedicated cpcwiki german section. :)

You are true BSC... But after 1 year of quasi-100% english speaking, the main speakers on this forum are: Targhan (french), Madram (french), TotO (french), AST (french), Toms (french), me (french)... and you (german)! Of course, we are disappointed by this fact, and we are still happy to read you here!

We probably have the impression that non-French people are not interested by our work since there is no feedback. But with something like 400 messages on the forum, and probably 350 in english, the forum stay an english forum.

Other example, we wrote english reports of Amstrad Expo 2010, Reset #0 (2011), #8 (2012), #10 (2013), with quasi 0-reaction from non-french people. After that, some of us thought: "why continue this?", and wrote in french. Note that it's easier to convince someone to write something in his native language.

So, are you interesting by writing the next Revision report in german?? ;)

Some more photos have been added thanks to CMP.

I guess the english version for the report may come a bit later... but he had no time to do it yet (I asked him whether it was on the to-do list), but some good help from someone motivated could be nice. (euh, not me please, don't have time at the moment)

I somewhat often feel the same with Spanish/german boards on CPC to be honest.

Ah dis donc ! The Google-translated version is more poetic, funnier and probably more accurate than the original!

Also, within chromium or with the proper plug-in, the pages you are viewing can be automatically translated. Thanks to that, my (digital) paperwork in Sweden led to much amusement.

Thanks for all your replies, I think I get your point when some of you say it seems like a waste of time to take the extra effort to write in (or translate to) english, but on the other hand I think that there will always be this schism embodied by a language barrier if we don't find and stick to a common language which cannot be anything else but english. (BTW I don't get why there has to be a german section of the CPC Wiki forum, but I don't mind as there's not a lot going on. But you guys here are an important part of the current CPC scene). Another thing I noticed is increased interest from people from outside, which is fantastic, but to keep them guys (and gals?) interested and hooked to the CPC I think would be much easier and effective if all of us spoke one language. This whole babble turns into oblivion if anyone here is afraid of new blood and uses french as a trumpesque wall of keep-em-out, though ;-)

TL;DR: We CPCists are a rare breed and should not artificially separate further by unfashionable habits.

BSC: Basically what Nietzsche kept repeating.
